Our Story

Home Watch USA began after seeing firsthand how quickly problems can develop in an unoccupied home — especially during Rochester’s harsh winters. With decades of experience in law enforcement, the U.S. Navy Reserves, real estate, home inspections, and property services, we recognized a growing need: more and more homeowners were leaving for extended periods, yet no one was watching over their homes in a professional and reliable way.

That experience led to a simple question:
“Who is looking after these homes when the owners are away?”

After researching the Home Watch industry, we discovered that while this service is common in other parts of the country, it was largely missing in Western New York. With a background uniquely suited to home protection and property oversight, Home Watch USA was created to fill that gap — providing disciplined, trustworthy, and highly trained support to homeowners throughout the Greater Rochester region.

About Dan Powell — Founder of Home Watch USA

Dan Powell brings decades of experience in law enforcement, the U.S. Navy Reserves, real estate, home inspections, and property services. He served the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years in roles such as Road Patrol, Court Security, Jail Bureau, Prisoner Transport, Field Training Officer, Certified Instructor, and Recruit Academy Counselor. Dan also served in the United States Navy Reserves, earning multiple service medals and an honorable discharge.

This background provides the discipline, attention to detail, and professionalism that guide every home watch visit.

Secure Keyholder Services

Your keys are stored securely in a locked, mounted key box. We also coordinate key pickup or delivery as needed.
