A Real Estate Agent discovered squatters in a vacant home for sale in Greece, NY, which is a suburb of Rochester, NY. Just before the home was due to close, the agent decided to do a final walk-through. To his surprise, he found squatters living in the property. When he confronted them, an altercation ensued, and the squatters fled. The Greece Police Department later confirmed that they had spotted the squatters, as reported in the attached article. In my presentations about Home Watch Services, I now make it a point to educate potential clients about the risks associated with squatters in unoccupied or vacant homes. This issue seems to be on the rise and should not be taken lightly.
